SC2C.Aero takes into consideration two different taxonomies:
In the field of Aeronautics: ACARE’s Taxonomy, published in 2003 in the report “ACARE Taxonomy: A Common European taxonomy for aeronautical research & technology” by D. P. Hannessen and J. C. Donker. The taxonomy work package describes the identification and definition of a common taxonomy for the European aeronautical community. It consists of an organized listing of research & technology (R&T) related topics within the European aeronautical community.
In the field of Space: NASA’s Technology Taxonomy, published in the 2020 NASA Technology Taxonomy available at NASA’s website. This taxonomy has been updated recently to include new relevant technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.
A few extra domains were included in the taxonomy by SC2C.Aero, which will always be highlighted in bold letters.
